At Good Detour, we believe in breaking barriers and creating experiences that unite people with their passions for the great outdoors and South Asian cuisine. As founders, we understand the struggles faced by many in the South Asian community when it comes to exploring the wilderness, limited by dietary restrictions and meal options. The story doesn't end with South Asians, vegetarians, vegans and people who actually want something better than the 'ol mac and cheese are making do with whatever currently available. 

Growing up as immigrants of the Indian diaspora, we encountered these challenges firsthand. Our own experiences on school camping trips and backpacking adventures with family were often marred by the lack of suitable food options. We knew there had to be a solution.

That's why we're on a mission to provide flavorful, nutritious, and vegetarian-forward South Asian cuisine that originates from the kitchens of our mothers and grandmothers. Inspired by our partner's personal journey and his friend's expertise as a food technologist, we've been perfecting these recipes, ensuring they capture the authentic homemade taste. Not just for personal use, but also with outdoor enthusiasts in mind.

Our unique backgrounds make us the ideal team to tackle this challenge. As a Registered Nurse with a lifelong focus on holistic health and wellness, Pooja understands the critical role nutrition plays in overall well-being. Rutwij, an exceptional home cook and dedicated outdoors enthusiast, brings entrepreneurial experience to the table.

What drives us as founders is a shared commitment to creating a business around our own pain points. We believe in the immense potential of our product and its ability to transform the outdoor industry. Currently, Vegetarian Food represented less than 5% of products on the shelf. Specifically South Asian flavored food only represents just 3% of what's available in the market. We see an opportunity to cater to a wider palette.

Our vision extends beyond ourselves. We want to cater not only to our generation but also to our nephews, nieces, and parents. With an increasingly diverse demographic in outdoor activities, we see our product as a bridge between cultures and generations.

Our journey has its share of challenges, from market positioning to distribution, marketing, scaling, and expanding our product lines. The road ahead is exciting, and we're ready to embark on this adventure.
